County contributes $12.5 million to new supportive housing units

A San Diego hotel involved in Project Homekey Courtesy San Diego Housing Commission San Diego County Supervisors voted unanimously on Tuesday to contribute million to an -unit permanent supportive housing advance at Starling Dr in San Diego The housing will encouragement veterans and people living with behavioral fitness challenges who are at hazard of or experiencing homelessness The county s contribution will help fund renovations and about million for ongoing operating costs including supporting units for people with behavioral robustness conditions County patronage of prior Homekey efforts has resulted in supportive units across six developments in the City of San Diego Valley Vista Apartments units Kearny Vista Apartments units PATH Villas El Cerrito units The Shore at North Beach units Pacific Village units Presidio Palms units The housing commission identified the Starling Dr location as a possible Homekey enhancement The existing property was renovated in converting an office building into residential units that are in the present being used as short-term vacation rentals Since San Diego County has invested more than million into affordable housing using excess land its Innovative Housing Trust Fund and other state federal and local funding sources administered by the county
