Democrats from House committee to be joined by Rep. Jacobs on border tour

The U S -Mexico Margin File photo by Chris Stone Times of San Diego Rep Sara Jacobs will be part of a Democratic delegation joining a visit to the U S -Mexico territory line Friday to conduct oversight of Trump administration margin policies firsthand The announcement came Thursday from the office of Rep Bennie Thompson of Mississippi the ranking Democrat on the House Homeland Protection Committee Jacobs D-San Diego is not a member of the committee but will join Thompson and fellow committee Democrats Lou Correa of Santa Ana Delia Ramirez of Illinois LaMonica McIver and Nellie Pou of New Jersey and Tim Kennedy of New York Thompson s office announced the visit will include tours of Homeland Precaution facilities and technologies near San Diego The delegation also will touch base with agents from Customs and Confines Protection s Office of Field Operations the U S Dividing line Patrol CBP s Air and Marine Operations and Homeland Shield Investigations The visit will also include a discussion with organizations working directly with foreigners according to Thompson s office Rep Robert Garcia of Long Beach and Rep Eric Swalwell of northern California who are not scheduled to attend Friday s boundary visit are the only other California Democrats on the committee Republicans have an - majority on the panel
